2025/06/20

New Features

  • You no longer need to click on the extension icon to enter Eink mode. If you have granted the permission 'Use on all sites' for Eink Mode during installation, you can enter Eink Mode on any webpage by swiping from left to right with your finger.
  • Simply swipe from left to right on any webpage to enter Eink mode. Desktop users can use the shortcut Cmd+Shift+1 (Mac) or Ctrl+Shift+1 (Windows) to enter Eink mode.
  • Once Eink mode is activated on a website, any page you browse on "that site" will automatically enter Eink mode. This memory persists until the browser is closed.
  • The background theme settings are now automatically remembered and applied to all websites, rather than being remembered individually for each site.
  • For desktop users, to open a hyperlink in the current tab (window), hold down the Shift key while clicking the link. To open a hyperlink in a new tab (window), hold down the Cmd (Mac) or Alt (Windows) key while clicking the link.

New Feature

  • 2 Page/column Mode: If your screen size is wide enough (>= 800 pixels), it will automatically enter 2-column (page) mode in 'Landscape Mode'. You can manually switch between 1 or 2 column layout by simply tapping the screen with three fingers or using keyboard shortcuts: Mac: Ctrl + d; Windows: Alt + d. (d stands for double). This feature is in preparation for future foldable devices, such as https://shorturl.at/xOxpS
2-page layout to read Project Syndicate on wide 25.1 inch E Ink Screen. You can use shortcut to toggle the dark or light theme (see below).
  • Enhance text contrast: The text contrast will be automatically enhanced in dark theme.
  • Fullscreen mode: When entering Eink mode, it will use fullscreen to display the content as default. You can click the page number or use shortcuts to toggle fullscreen mode: Mac: Ctrl + f; Windows: Alt + f. (f stands for fullscreen)
  • Shortcut to toggle the theme: Mac: Ctrl + t ; Windows: Alt + t. (t stands for theme)
  • Support Side Key or Volumn Key to turn the webpages on Onyx Boox devices. (Needs to be set from the application optimization settings, and only needs to be set once ).
  • A more convenient  way to open hyperlinks and images: Either to open in the current window (drag links/images upward) or with a new window (drag links/images toward the upper right direction).

  • Quick Flip: Quickly flip pages by the mouse wheel or two fingers swipe up or down.
  • Quick  page reload gesture:  two fingers swipe from left to right.
  • Quick go back gesture: two fingers swipe from right to left.
  • Remember the last theme setting for each website.

Bug fixes and improvements

  • Change the shortcut key to activate Eink mode: Cmd+Shift+1 (Mac), Ctrl+Shift+1 (Windows)
  • Side gestures of E Ink device won't interfere with book navigation now.
  • Improved the function of converting web pages to dark theme.
  • Improve diagonal gestures.
  • Fixed the keyboard shortcut bug.
  • Fixed bugs related to dark theme.
  • Optimized the reading experience for Reddit. (Computer version, removed all the ads.)

v0.0.2 Update Notes

2025/05/27
  1. Added ad removal function. Now, approximately 80-90% of advertisements on websites will be automatically removed, making the layout cleaner and simpler, and also allowing more websites to display correctly.
  2. Added dark theme. Because some computer users requested this feature, the program will now automatically detect if it's the computer version and switch to a black background for better eye comfort. You can also manually switch between black/white backgrounds, as demonstrated in the video.
  3. Fixed a bug in the handwriting function. (It was later discovered that this issue was caused by the Firefox browser. Firefox currently does not support the eraser on the back of the stylus or the side buttons.)
  4. Enabled more foreign language websites to display correctly.
  5. Other bug fixes.

Boox文石閱讀器各大書城App設定懶人包 （適用文石韌體V3.3.0以前的韌體版本）

一般會選擇開放式電子紙閱讀器的人，最主要的目的就是想要隨意使用各個書城平台買書，不被閱讀器綁架強迫只能買該平台的書。因此大部分的人一拿到開放式閱讀器後，第一個就是安裝各個書城平台的App使用。 不過Google Play裡面提供的書城App，一般都是為發光手機、平板設計的，並沒有特地為開放式電子紙裝置做優化，因此大部分直接使用的情況下使用者體驗都不會太好。 文石也知道有這樣的問題，因此在他們自家出的開放式電子紙閱讀器（平板）中有個「應用優化」的程式，可以針對不同的App去調整許多顯示或是刷新方面的參數，讓這些App更符合用電子紙閱讀應用的需求。 雖然有「應用優化」這個好用的程式，不過大部分剛接觸文石的新手可能還是不懂得如何去設定這些參數讓閱讀體驗更好，因此本文就是要分享一些常用書城App的設定值，供需要的人快速參考設定。 調整介面位置說明 E-Ink中心位置 本文要調整的參數主要分佈在兩個地方，一個是E Ink 中心，其位置在Android的系統欄中，只要用手指從屏幕的右上方往下滑，就可以看到了。點進去E Ink中心後，就有我們要調整的「系統」參數。 傳統模式要叫出Android系統欄是用手從屏幕上方往下滑 點選E-Ink中心 就會出現可調整刷新與顯示參數的地方 應用優化位置 另一個要調整的位置在「應用優化」中，其位置在懸浮球裡面，不過要使用前，當下的畫面必須是在想要調整的App裡再點，這樣在調整裡面的參數時，才會針對該App做設定。 另外一個進入應用優化的作法是在「應用」頁面長按想要調整的App圖示，再點選「優化」即可，不過此方式無法邊調整邊看效果，因此對於不熟的App，不建議用此種方式，還是點開App並用懸浮球進入比較好，一般是知道明確設定值時（例如本文給各位的懶人包），才會用此方式做調整。 在想要調整的App中打開懸浮球並點選應用優化的圖示 就會出現可以調整刷新與漂白分頁參數的地方 Boox黑白電子紙各書城設定方式 Readmoo E-Ink中心 ...

彩色電子紙開前光是否就失去了護眼的意義？

最近在臉書社團中有人提出了一個問題：用電子紙不就是為了不自發光只反射環境光來達到不累眼睛的閱讀。現在彩色版卻需要開 前光 [註一] 才能看清畫面...。這樣跟原本產品定位是不是相左了？ 另外有些人也覺得開了前光的電子紙就是不舒服，即便強度開很小，他的眼睛就是無法忍受那多一點點的光線，一丁點都不行。 其實會有以上想法的人，是誤以為電子紙比較護眼的原因是電子紙 不自發光 。而一般的手機、平板有 發光背光源 持續發光直射眼睛，才會傷眼睛，讓眼睛不舒服。但其實這完全是錯誤的觀念，以下我會說明理由。 直射光與反射光並無不同 我們的眼睛天生就是要來接收光線訊號的，從出生後眼睛張開那一瞬間，眼睛就持續接受光線的刺激。要有光，我們才看得見東西。那現在矛盾的地方來了，如果電子紙表面不自發光，那我們怎麼看得到電子紙？有人說那是反射光，不是自發光，但是反射出來的光線跟發光源發出的光線，有什麼差別？ 其實兩者完全沒差別 [註二] 。因此電子紙表面會發光是毫無疑問的，它是持續的發光，只是它的光來自於環境光源的反射。 我再問：反射光線難道不是直射眼睛嗎？如果不是直射眼睛，那我們看到的電子紙畫面豈不是海市蜃樓？你手伸過去觸控時應該可以精準按到按鍵吧？！既然可以，我們可以確定反射光是直射眼睛。 從以上可知，既然電子紙會持續發光，而且發出的光線會直射眼睛，那跟一般手機、平板的背光持續發光、直射眼睛有什麼差別？如果沒有差別，為什麼我們長時間使用電子紙閱讀的時候的確可以明顯感受到眼睛比看平板、手機要來得舒服很多？這個問題的答案我們稍後再來回答。 前光源與環境光並無不同 現在我們把焦點移到電子紙的前光源上，所謂電子紙的前光源，是裝置在電子紙紙面側邊上方的LED燈珠，它發出的光會透過導光板均勻的分佈到紙面中間上方並照射墨水分子，而墨水分子再把這個光反射回來給我們看到，因此也是反射光，那這個反射光，跟裝在天花板上的LED燈、裝在檯燈上的LED燈、或是太陽光照射電子紙後再反射回來的光有什麼差別？ 你開室內的燈、檯燈就叫做環境光，你開電子紙表面上的燈就不屬於環境光？還是你叫它前光，它就會跟別人不一樣？還是你說你看得出來他們不一樣？如果你覺得你看的得出來它們不一樣，那我想要請你看看以下兩張圖片： 以...
