This privacy policy describes how the browser extension "Eink Mode" uses information.

Information We Collect

This extension uses cookies and localStorage to enhance your Browse experience by saving certain preferences locally. We collect the following information:

• Scroll Position: We store the current scroll position of the webpage you are viewing in a cookie. This allows you to jump back to your last viewed location on the page if you refresh the window.
• E Ink Mode Preference: We use a cookie to record whether you have enabled the E Ink mode during your current Browse session. If Eink mode was used before a window refresh, the extension will automatically re-apply the Eink mode upon the page reloading.
• Website URL: We store the URL of the website you are currently visiting in a cookie. This allows us to detect if you have opened a hyperlink within the current window. If a new page loads due to a hyperlink click, the extension will automatically apply the E Ink mode to the new content (making it paginated instead of scrollable).

Through LocalStorage:

• Theme Preference: We use localStorage to save your preferred theme for the E Ink mode (e.g., light or dark). This allows the extension to remember your theme choice and automatically apply it across different Browse sessions, even after you close and reopen your browser.

Usage of Cookies and localStorage

The cookies mentioned above are classified as "session storage" cookies. This means they are temporary and are automatically deleted when you close your current browser tab or window.

The theme preference saved in localStorage is persistent. This data remains stored in your browser's local storage even after you close your browser or restart your computer. It will be used by the extension to automatically apply your preferred theme each time you use E Ink mode on a website, until you change the theme in the extension's settings or clear your browser's local storage.

No Collection of Personal Information

We want to assure you that this extension does not collect any other personal information about you. We do not collect your Browse history, your location, or any other data beyond the specific information stored in cookies and localStorage as mentioned above.

No Communication with Remote Servers

This extension operates entirely within your browser. There is no communication of any data collected by this extension (including cookie and localStorage data) to any remote server, including our own. All processing and storage of this limited data occur locally within your browser.

Extension Functionality

The sole purpose of this extension is to modify the layout of websites you visit to make them more suitable for display on E Ink devices and to remember your preferred theme for this mode. This functionality does not involve the collection or transmission of any personal data beyond the necessary storage for its core features.
